What is R/C?

Radio control, or R/C, is different from remote control toys because each miniature model is made up of real working parts. The cars have engines, carburetors, clutches, gears, and drive shafts just like a real car. These tiny parts can be tweaked, replaced, upgraded, and repaired. You can tune your vehicle to fit your needs, whether you want to torque it out or raise your top speed. This is why it's a hobby, not just a toy.

The same concept goes for Planes, Helicopters, and Boats (we even saw a submarine once.) The radio you control your kit with will have several knobs and switches, all of which the friendly crew at BMI can help you learn to operate, if you don't know already. Most radio signals extend over a mile, meaning that you would lose connection with your automobile or aircraft long after it's out of site.

Inside the Store: Road Side

Also affectionately called the "dirt" side, this is the left side of the store where you will find cars, trucks, buggies, truggies, and crawlers of all shapes and sizes. There is also an array of custom kits, custom-painted bodies, and all the upgrades and replacement parts you could ask for.

Inside the Store: Air Side

Upon entering the store, turn right and you will be in an RC flyer's haven. The air side is full of RC helicopters and RC planes from an in-door styrofoam plane to a large-scale nitro helicopter. The air side also offers top-grade computer simulators to help you learn to fly without the cost of broken kits.

Meet the Team

Jessie Sadberry, Owner, CEO

Jessie loved R/C since he was a small child. Over ten years ago he turned his hobby into a business and sold R/C products out of his home. In 2002, he opened his first store-front in Plano, TX. The store has since expanded and now includes two parts: a "dirt" side and an "air" side, for vehicles and aircfart respectively. Jessie knows vintage cars back-to-front, having grown up with most of the kits that are now considered classics such as the landjump, vanning, mint las vegas, and silver fox kits. He continues to deal in vintage through the store-front and online, as well as maintaining broad, well-rounded knowledge of the latest vehicles and aircrafts.

Luke Yarbrough

Luke is the local expert airman. He has been flying rc planes and helicopters for 20 years, focusing mainly on helicopters and large-scale aircraft. Currently offering aircraft repairs on his side of the store, Luke can help you fix the kit you have or find the one you need. He joined the BMI crew to pursue his love for the hobby.

Scott Davis

Scotty is the customer service rep, tech expert, and main repair man. You'll usually find him behind the work desk holding a radio control kit in one hand and a screwdriver in the other. Scotty has been into the hobby for over 5 years and he will try anything with a radio attached to it! He works at the shop when he's not attending college, and will be glad to answer your questions, help you with upgrades, and handle your repairs.
